Built the LEGO Ferrari F40 set. I been eagerly awaiting this moment the first I heard about the set in January. My all time favorite super car and it’s in LEGO form!
Official Ferrari Product! ...Fancy :)
The box has a good amount of weight to it and with over 1000 pieces I see why. The thick instruction manual adds weight too.
Got my pieces sorted out and finished the 1st step
Now it’s starting to look like a car.
Love these seats!
Done :D Built it in 2 days.
Heres a comparison of the LEGO model and a real F40.
You can see some inaccuracies, like the fender badge is too low, front chin needs to be out more, etc, but it’s LEGO, made to look like a F40 made of LEGO and the designer did a damn good job.
A few parts of the car are attached by clever techniques like the vents are held on by a clip attached to the grey bars.
All the doors open.
The roof is strong and you can pick up the model without it falling apart!
So sexy :D
Headlights manually open.
Can it fit a model team technic figure?
Uhhh... nope.
Removed the seat and still a tight squeeze. He can’t reach the steering wheel or shifter!
2 RPM gauges!?!
This hood is sure heavy.
Ahhhh!!!
Panel gaps you could f*** :P (credit to Andrew P Collins )
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I hope you are trying to open the door.
Also removeable engine! I never removed an engine so easily.
Perfect place to take a nap.
No spare tire on this model. Comes with a can of fix a flat and this is more than a flat tire :(
What kind of Ferrari is this? Drum brakes and wheel covers? :P
Weighs 1 lb 11.7oz
Not as much as this crane :D
Seems to be in scale.
Overall this is one of the best LEGO sets I ever built and lots of interesting building techniques I can use in my own creations. So many 1x2 plates, slopes, tiles, and small parts turn into a work of art.
The model feels solid, hood is a bit heavy and have to install a hood prop for it to stay open. Holding the car upside down will make the prop fall out. Chassis is not detailed so seeing the chassis wouldn’t be necessary. A bit disapointed a figure cannot fit inside and there are two RPM gauges on the instrument cluster. LEGO could of made stickers like the Ferrari logo on the steering wheel.
If you love LEGO, Ferrari, or just cars, then this is the model for you. For only $99.99 from LEGO.com you get to build your very own Ferrari F40!

Mine’s probably going to be build some time next week. Until then I’ll just stare at the beautiful box.

I love those model team figures! They used to have the seats that were made for them, I had one in a plane that I used to play with all the time. He would of course bail out a lot, leaving the plane to crash, but it was fun nonetheless!

For that price however, you could get a 1/18 HWE F40...

But you can’t take it apart and make another vehicle :)

And you can’t convert a 1/18 model from road to race (with the right parts) whenever you feel like, too

Also have you tried removing the roof and/or windshield to make a Spider/Barchetta?

So even a LEGO oil change is an engine out service?

That’s great! What other sets do you have?

Moohahaha! Awesome!
I’m glad you used a bold font all the way. This kit deserves it.
